198. Isreal7 Wood (Jebez8, Jebez9, Jebez10, David11, Henry12, John (Johannes)13 , Nicholas14 Atwood) was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 24 August 1801. Israel reported the weather for the local newpaper from 1829 until his death on 12 July 1889 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT.

He married twice. He married Betsey Pullen about 1821. Betsy died 2 April 1848 in West Brattleboro, VT aged 42 years, 2 months, and 8 days (making her birthdate approx. 26 Jan 1806). He married Laura (Quinn) Pratt on 24 Sep 1849 in Wilmington, VT. Laura was born 20 March 1820 in Marlboro, Windham, VT. Laura was the daughter of Luther Pratt and Patty Miller. Laura died 5 May 1892 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT, at 72 years of age.

Isreal Wood and Betsey Pullen had the following children:

child 199 i. Mary Ann6 Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 1 October 1826. She married Issac B. Morris who was born in Boston, MA 20 Feb 1840 and died in Dummerston, VT 15 Dec 1913. They had one child, Albert Titus Morris, born 17 June 1872 in Guilford, VT and died 1953 in Medford, MA. He married Mary Elizabeth Nixon.

child 200 ii. Simeon M. Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 5 September 1828. He married Ellen L. Heffron of Brattleboro who was born about 1842 (she was 23 in 1865). She died in Springfield about 1882. Simeon died 30 Sep 1897 in Springfield, MA of phthisis and exaustion. His death certificate states that he was a Carpenter - Widowed. The local paper carried the following obituary:

Simeon M. Wood, 69, died at his home 75 Fulton Street, yesterday morning of quick consumption, with which he had been ill a little over three months. He was born in Brattleboro, VT, but had lived in this city over 30 years. For the past 28 years he had been a machinist in the employ of the Boston and Albany railroad. His wife died just 15 years ago, only a few hours later in the day than his death, on the last day of September. He leaves a daughter, Ms Nellie Wood who lived with him.

child 201 iii. Darius Alanson Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 9 October 1830. m. Sept. 13, 1854, Sarah Adeline Moody, b. Landaff, N. H., Oct. 9, 1835, dau. of Moses and Betsey W. (Howe) Moody. He was employed in the U. S. Arsenal at Springfield, Mass. Divorced. After her divorce, Mrs. Wood res. in Sullivan, NH on the Dauphin Spaulding 2nd place. Mr Wood removed to to Provience, RI where he was employed in gun manufacturing. He died in Providence 22 Aug 1907. A dau.:

child 202 iv. Albert H. Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 26 July 1832. He married Eliza Bates of Conway, MA 15 Jul 1856. She was the daughter of Calvin and Olive Bates. By the 1860 census they had two children; Henry C. Wood b. 1857 and Clifford L. Wood b. 1859. They also had Albert L. b. 1862. Albert enlisted in Company I. Massachusetts 3rd Heavy Artillery Regiment on 10 Feb 1864. He was promoted to Full Corporal and was Mustered out on 12 Sep 1865 at Richmond, VA where he died.

child 203 v. Chester N. Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT in June 1842. He served for the duration of the Civil War enlisting 10 Feb 1862 in the 8th VT Infantry, reenlisting 18 Feb 1864, and being discharged 28 June 1865. He married Amanda W. Maude, dau of Henry and Ann, in 1870. Amanda was born in Massachusetts in July 1853. They had five children, two of whom were still living in 1900: Helem M. b. July 1880, and Harvey S. b. Sep 1884. Chester was admitted into the Togus Home for disabled soldiers in Chelsea, ME 9 Feb 1904 and died there 30 July 1910. His personal effects were sent to his widow Amanda at 52 Vine Street, Springfield MA.

child 204 vi. Lewis A. Wood was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT in July 1845. Lewis died 17 Aug 1863 at Camp Hubbard, LA of diptheria. He was 18yrs, 1 month old. Company I, 8th VT Infantry.
