6026. Edmund14 Rice was born about 1594, came from Barkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England, and settled in Sudbury in 1639. He was a prominent man in Sudbury; was one of the selectmen, or townsmen, as they were frequently denominated, and was one of the Deacons of the Church. He was honored with several appointments by the General Court, and was denominated therein "Goodman Rice." He was appointed to solemnize marriages in Marlborough, and enjoyed the confidence of his fellow citizens in both towns. He was one of the petitioners for the grant which was afterwards made the town of Marlborough, and moved to the place. His wife Tamazine, died in Sudbury, June 13, 1654, and he married March 1, 1655as a 2d wife, Merrie (Mary Brigham), widow of Thomas Brigham, the ancestor of the numerous. Brighams which afterwards settled at Marlborough He married Mercie, March 1, 1655, and died at Marlborough May 3, 1663, and was buried at Sudbury. His widow married 1664, William Hunt, of Marlborough, an early settler of Concord. He died at Marlborough, 1667, and his widow died December 28, 1693. Edmund Rice came to Marlborough soon after the grant of the township, and took up his abode on what is known as the "great road," on the northerly side of the Pond, not far from the Williams Tavern. We have no record of the birth of his children, and cannot set them down in chronological order. .

6027 i. Joseph13 Rice was born in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England 13 March 1613. Joseph died 23 December 1711 in Stowe, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 98 years of age. He married Mercy (Mary) King 4 May 1653 in Sudbury, Mddx, Mass. Mercy was born 1639 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Mercy was the daughter of Thomas King and Anne Collins.
6029 iii. Henry Rice was born in Stanstead, Suffolk, England February 1620. Henry died 10 February 1710 in Framingham, Middlesex, MA, at 89 years of age. His body was interred February 1710. He married Elizabeth Moore 1 February 1643 in Sudbury, Middlesex, MA.

6030 v. John Rice was born in Stanstead, Suffolk, Eng. 1624. John died 1688/1689 in Prob Dedham, Norfolk, Mass, at 65 years of age. He married Ann Hackley 27 November 1649 in Dedham, Norfolk, Mass.
6031 vi. Thomas Rice was born in Suffolk, England 26 January 1626. Thomas died 16 November 1681 in Sudbury, Middlesex, MA, at 55 years of age. He married Mary King 1651. Mary was born 22 February 1630 in Shaston, Dorset, England. Mary was the daughter of Thomas King and Anne Collins. Mary died 22 May 1714 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 84 years of age.
6032 vii. Lydia Rice was born in Barkhamstead, Hertsford, England 9 March 1627. Lydia died 5 April 1675 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 48 years of age. She married Hugh Drury 5 April 1672 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Mass.
6033 viii. Matthew Rice was born 1630. Matthew died 1717 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 87 years of age. He married three times. He married Martha Lamson. He married Martha Lamson. He married Martha Lamson 7 July 1654 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Mass.
6034 ix. Daniel Rice was born in England 1632. Daniel died 10 November 1632 in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England, at less than one year of age. His body was interred 10 November 1632 in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England.

6035 xi. Edmund Rice was born in at sea 1638. Edmund died 25 February 1685 in Died At Sea, at 46 years of age. He married twice. He married Ruth Parker. He married Sarah.
6036 xii. Benjamin Rice was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 31 May 1640. Benjamin died 19 December 1713 in Sudbury, Middlesex, MA, at 73 years of age. He married Mary Browne. Mary was born 18 May 1643. Mary died 3 January 1690/1691 at 47 years of age.
