2883. John¹² Weld (Joseph¹³, Edmund¹⁴) was born in Sudbury, Suffolk, England 28 October 1623. John died 20 September 1691 in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA, at 67 years of age.

He married Margaret Bowen 24 December 1647 in Oxwich, Glamorgan, Wales. Margaret was born 2 April 1629 in Gower, Glamorgan, Wales. Margaret was the daughter of Griffith Bowen and Margaret Fleming. Margaret died 13 September 1692 at 63 years of age.

John Weld did not come with his parents in 1635, but arrived in America at the age of 15 in 1638; he was a freeman, 22 May 1650 (BRC 29.145); and took the oath of allegiance in Roxbury in 1678 or 1669. (BRC 29.171) He succeeded to the ownership of a large part of his father's estate in Roxbury, buying out his sisters, but quitclaiming fourty acres to his brother Edmund, which the latter sold to John Polley and William Lyons in 1657 (SD 3.197).

John Weld and Margaret Bowen had the following children:

+ 1729 i. Joseph¹¹ Weld was born 13 September 1650. "There was no help present when the mother was delivered of this child".

2884 ii. John Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 25 May 1653. John died 21 February 1738 at 84 years of age. He married twice. He married Hannah Portise 22 January 1678/1679. He married Margaret Fuller 6 June 1723 in Cambridge, Middlesex, MA.

2885 iii. Elizabeth Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 14 November 1655. Elizabeth died 1725 at 69 years of age. She married Samuel Gore 28 August 1672. They had four children. Samuel died 4 July 1692. She married ______ Tucker..

2886 iv. Margaret Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 29 September 1657. Margaret died 27 June 1674 at 16 years of age. (Church record)

2887 v. Mary Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 3 April 1660. Mary died 1706 at 45 years of age. She married Joshua Gardiner (child of Thomas Gardner) 22 March 1681. Joshua was born 26 Jan 1657 and died 12 Jul 1700. (Colonial Families in America, iii.587)

2888 vi. Abigail Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 27 August 1663. Abigail died 17 February 1667 at 3 years of age.

2889 vii. Esther Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 28 December 1664. Esther died 8 January 1665 at less than one year of age.

2890 viii. Hannah Weld was born in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA 5 September 1666. Hannah died 21 June 1697 at 30 years of age. She married William Heath 11 November 1685.
