He married twice. He married Mary Jane Thomas 1 December 1853 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH. Mary was born 3 August 1834 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH. Mary was the daughter of Gideon Thomas and Desire Masters. Mary died 29 December 1871 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH, at 37 years of age. He married Cristine Connellia Hildreth 3 July 1872 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH. Cristine was born 6 February 1842 in Chesterfield, Cheshire, NH. Cristine was the daughter of Africa Hildreth and Mary (Polly) Blanchard. Cristine died 2 March 1899 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH, at 57 years of age.

Bessie was born 10 February 1862 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT. Bessie was the daughter of George Hartwell Houghton and Sarah Maria Thomas. Bessie died 31 Aug 1904 at 42 years of age. He married Julia Ada Smith 17 March 1906. Julia was born 15 September 1865 in Winchester, NH. Julia was the daughter of Orson Grover Smith and Augusta E. Streeter. Mr. Newcomb was a jewler (watchmaker) and optician. William and Bessie had the following children:
105 ii. Herbert Samuel Newcomb was born in Bernardston, Franklin, MA 3 November 1855. Herbert died 4 September 1857 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT, at 1 year of age.
106 iii. Charles Herbert Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 21 August 1857. He married Annie S. Smith 27 November 1884 in Wardsboro, VT. Annie was born 27 Mar 1860. Annie was the daughter of Moses A. Smith and Sarah Emily Corbin. Charles was a machinist and a farmer; resided, Hinsdale, NH until 1901, when he removed to Wardsboro, VT. Charles died 21 May 1903 of Tuberculosis in Wardsboro, VT. Charles and Annie had the following child:
107 iv. Briscoe Thomas Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 1 August 1859. He was a jewler. He married Mary Alma Green of Foxboro, MA on 7 Feb 1885 in Mansfield, MA. She was born in 1860 to Enos W. and Elizabeth L. Thayer. They had the following child:
108 v. Mary Gertrude Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 9 June 1863. In 1880 she was living with her uncle Calvin Newcomb in Matawan, New Jersey. She married Peter Bennett on 22 Feb 1882 in Matawan, NJ. Peter was b. 24 Nov 1862 in Browntown, NJ to Daniel Bennett and Elsie Warne. They had the following child:
109 vi. Ida Desire Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 3 April 1866. Ida died 3 July 1910 in Oakland, CA, at 44 years of age.
110 vii. Fred Ernest Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 23 June 1870. He married Ellen R. Schragle 26 September 1899 in Fitchburg, MA. Ellen was born 1 Jan 1879. Ellen was the daughter of Ernest F. Schragle and Nellie A. Cutting. Fred is an expert steam fitter; resided, Fitchburg, where children i and ii were born; later, Newport, NH, where third child was born.

111 viii. Lotin Samuel Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 5 April 1873. He was employed as a printer at his brother's firm (E.L. Hildreth). He died in Brattleboro on 26 Jan 1908 from Tuberculosis at 35 years of age. He married Harriet Mather 18 April 1899 in West Brattleboro, Windham, VT. Harriet was born 31 Dec 1864 to Cotton Mather and Seraph Perlee Whitaker. They had the following children:
112 ix. Herman J. Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 17 October 1874. Herman died 12 August 1875 at less than one year of age.

113 xi. Walter Lemuel Newcomb was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 10 August 1879. Walter died 29 Nov 1960 in Brattleboro, VT after suffering with senility for a number of years. He married twice. He married first, Elizabeth May Cobb on 14 January 1909. She was the daughter of Etwell E. Cobb and Susie Morgan. She died 12 July 1911 of Typhoid Fever just six months after thier marriage. On 25 Feb 1913 Walter married (second) Ida Belle Hillman in Mobile, Alabama. Ida was born in Michigan in March 1890 to Tom D. and Rosina Hillman. Walter and Ida had the following child:
